In her speech at the opening ceremony, Li said that the cross-Straits charity forum has become an important platform for the people-to-people exchanges and collaborative development across the Taiwan Strait. During the past 12 years, the event has further expanded its friendship network, become more effective, gained a rising reputation, and strengthened cross-Straits public welfare cooperation. Charity has played an increasingly important role in bringing people together, conveying warmth, keeping pace with the times, unleashing potentials, assuming responsibilities and creating a shared future, developed into a common ground for people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to disseminate warmth, and deepened the cross-Straits bond. This year's forum theme, "Joining Hands in Public Welfare Affairs and Creating a Future," is both a summary and review of the past and an expectation for the future.
Li asked the cross-Straits charity forum to promote positive energy, forge social consensus through philanthropic spirit, expand new areas, respond to challenges with public welfare strength, underscore the guidance of children and teenagers, and fully leverage the functions of philanthropic convictions in the stimulation of youth's enthusiasm. The CSCLF will remain true to its original aspiration, deepen its cooperation with all cross-Straits partners, promote the cross-Straits public welfare exchanges in terms of youth-related sports, sci-tech innovation and mental health through the cross-Straits charity forum and lecture events, add empowerment to public welfare cause via innovative concepts and artificial intelligence, promote the building of cross-Straits exchange platforms in charity, science and technology, and culture, and write a new chapter for peaceful and collaborative development across the Taiwan Strait.
The 2025 Forum on Cross-Straits Charity was jointly held by the CSCLF, the Central Committee of the China Zhi Gong Party's Social Development and Service Committee, Xiamen University, and several Taiwan-based philanthropic organizations. It drew the participation of over 200 representatives, volunteers, experts and scholars from social organizations across the Taiwan Strait, who shared personal experience and feeling about the building of a better future and the assistance of children's healthy growth through charity.
Prior to the opening ceremony, Li held a meeting with representatives of Taiwanese delegates at the cross-Straits charity forum.
